School Curriculum

Our curriculum stimulates the intellectual capabilities of curiosity, reasoning, questioning and creativity.  We recognize that our complex, rapidly changing technological society will require more than recitation of facts.  We emphasize communication and teamwork skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening.

Our school has a newly established Science Lab with equipment and material for all grade levels from Pre-K to Grade 8 for hands-on learning and experimentation.  Our fully-equipped library has updated books on various topics and encyclopedia for research.

Before and after school programs are available for students, where help is offered in homework instruction.  Younger students engage in playful activity. Selected videos are also shown.  Our students may also participate in our hot lunch program.  We also publish a yearbook and school newsletters to keep our parents informed.  To add to a student’s school experience, every student can participate in our Student Council and Buddy System (where the older students team up with the younger grades for different class-based activities.

St. Joseph School is conveniently located
at 509 Pavonia Avenue, just minutes away
        from Journal Square.

Our school has a long history of providing
        academic instruction and Catholic training
here in Jersey City. The current administra-
tion, faculty and staff are dedicated to the
        furtherance of this important educational
        tradition.

St. Joseph's is an accredited school by the
Middle States Association of Colleges and
        Schools providing rigorous academic training,
a comfortable, safe environment, and a faithful
        example of Christian values.

St. Joseph's is a great place to learn. We
are open to all who want a fine education,
regardless of race, color or creed. Our small
class size allows not only individual attention,
but an opportunity for close relationships
        between students and teachers.

Through diversity we achieve unity. Our
student body, although quite diverse in culture
and religious background, blend together to
form a school where our students can all
learn, grow and respect one another. We
celebrate our unique talents and backgrounds.
One common denominator all our students
share is a commitment to developing not only
their minds, but a well-rounded respectful
        attitude.
